About
Orleans
ORLEANS is gearing up
for a busy 2002, with concerts, fair and casino appearances on the calendar.
(see tour page) Original
bandmates Larry Hoppen, John Hall and Lance Hoppen will be joined by Charlie
Morgan or Peter O'Brien on drums, and by Lane Hoppen or Bob Leinbach on
keyboards.
Fall of 2001 was the first
time Orleans played together since Fall 1997, when the group decided to
take a break in a 25-year run as a revered live and recording band.
John Hall served as a school board member, founded the indie Siren Songs
Records and worked on his solo music career while sailing up and down the
East Coast. Larry Hoppen moved his family to near Orlando, Florida
where he works with his own band and the Voices of Classic Rock. Lance
Hoppen, living in Nashville, Tennessee since 1988, has been touring with
Andy Griggs and other top Country stars for years.
During that time their
music continued to be played on the radio, featured in films like Primary
Colors, and used commercially for products including Keds and Burger King.
January 2002, "Still The One" was licensed for use on NBC's hit drama "The
West Wing". A steady barrage of fan letters and requests from friends
got them thinking about this reunion, and the shows last fall were so much
fun they decided to do more this year..
Besides their hits and
chestnuts from many albums, Orleans will perform tunes from Hall's and
Hoppen's solo efforts, new songs that have not been recorded yet, and the
occasional cover. Whatever it is, when Larry, Lance and John sing
it and play it they make it their own.
