John Hall has written songs that were covered by some legendary performers. Behind the scenes, backstage, in the studio, those artists fell in love with the songs while hearing John sing them himself. Now the writer's version of these eleven songs is available on one CD. Good
Enough - written for Bonnie Raitt, released on her "Home Plate"
album.
Dance
With Me - a classic by John's band Orleans and also by Chet
Atkins, Earl Klugh, Bobby McFerrin and others. Over three million radio
airplays.
Miss Grace - a #1 record in England for The Tymes, on Rolling Stone magazine's Top 5 Beach Music list. Half
Moon - written for Janis Joplin and released on her "Pearl"
album, also recorded by Chaka Khan, James Brown and the 5th Dimension.
Two-Faced World - written for Millie Jackson, also recorded by Orleans. Sails
- written for the Orleans "Waking and Dreaming" album, also recorded by
Chet Atkins and Steve Wariner.
Still
the One - written for and biggest hit by Orleans, covered by
the Oak Ridge Boys, the Thrashers and Bill Anderson. Over three million
airplays.
New Star Shining - recorded by Ricky Skaggs and James Taylor on the Columbia album "Love's Gonna Get Ya." The CD also showcases John's eloquent guitar work, using his trademark '56 Fender Stratocaster, as well as a Martin HD-28 acoustic, a Harvey Citron electric six-string and an antique National with a resonator and Hawaiian scene painted on the back. Recovered also features Tony Levin on Bass, Ralph McDonald on percussion, Peter O'Brien on Drums and Robbie Dupree on harmonica. Produced by Robbie Dupree and John Hall for Siren Songs. |
